Join Victoria Redel for the evening as she shares and discusses her newest novel, Before Everything, recently released in June 2017. Before Everything is an exploration and celebration of friendship and love, as a group of lifetime friends gather together to confront life, love and now, mortality.
Before Everything is an entertaining and bittersweet ode to friendship as one woman’s passage through hospice shapes the lives and journeys of those around her. The novel offers a brilliant, emotionally charged portrait of everyday life, deftly conveying the sweep of time as each character faces challenges and turning points in dilemmas with children, work, family, and love. Before Everything is a beautiful reminder of how, even in difficult endings, gifts can unfold and lives can take on new meaning.
Victoria is a critically acclaimed author of four previous works of fiction and three collections of poetry. Her debut novel, Loverboy, was named a best book of the year by the Los Angeles Times and won the S. Mariela Gable Award from Graywolf Press and the Forward Silver Literary Fiction Prize. She received her MFA in poetry from Columbia University and teaches at Sarah Lawrence College.
