Explore how trauma compromises the capacity for pleasure, emotional engagement, and freedom. How does trauma affect the nervous system, and as caregivers, how can we support a return to trust, safety and well-being?

Practices of the Way

Thursday, February 15th, 2018 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

This class will cover the forms of practice at NYZCCC. It will include a review of the basics of Zazen and the postures of body, breath and mind, as well as, shikantaza and koan, zendo procedures, the role of dokusan and the teacher-student relationship.

Tangaryo: Becoming a Formal Zen Student

Tangaryo is the initiation ceremony for becoming a formal Zen Student at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care under the guidance of Sensei Robert Chodo Campbell or Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison.

The third of three in the Ways of Zen Series, this class will focus on New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care's teaching lineage, the role of ritual, chanting, ceremony, rites of passage, and how to be of service in the world.
