Commit-to-Sit: A 90-Day Commitment to Practice

Usher in the New Year with the third annual Commit-To-Sit Practice Period which asks participants to sit every day for 90 days.

For the past 2,600 years, since the time of the historical Buddha, communities have engaged in an extended period of practice known as ango. NYZCCC continues this tradition beginning on January 11, in tandem with the opening of Winter Sesshin.

Each morning an email excerpt from the study text along with a thought provoking reflection will be sent to challenge, encourage, and delight. You will be offered further opportunities for wholehearted engagement throughout the practice period.

This year we will be studying Maezumi Roshi’s, Appreciate Your Life – The Essence of Zen Practice, the first major collection of his teachings. Maezumi is one of the original masters who brought Zen to the west and is the founder of the White Plum lineage, in which Guiding Teachers Sensei Robert Chodo Campbell and Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison are lineage holders.
