Contemplative Medicine Conversations: The Gift of Human Presence

with Sensei Chodo Robert Campbell, Diane E. Meier, MD and Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison Wednesday,

May 26th, 2021 from 7:30pm-8:30pm ET

“If ever we needed to be reminded of how important human connection and support is for people with serious illness, this pandemic has made the point very, very clearly.”

Diane E. Meier, MD

Director of the Center to Advance Palliative Care

Over more than a decade of engagement in healthcare environments, we have heard again and again from clinicians that those providing care must receive the training and support needed to enhance resilience, nurture compassion, and sustain well-being on all sides of the healthcare equation.

Building on our experience and expertise in Contemplative Care education and training, the Zen Center launched the Contemplative Medicine Fellowship—a program specifically developed for practicing physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who want to transform their role as clinicians and lead change in the culture of care.

Join us for a free online event with Fellowship visiting faculty member Diane E. Meier, MD, Director of the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC)—a national organization devoted to increasing access to quality health care in the United States for people living with serious illness.

In this second event of the Contemplative Medicine Conversations series, she and Fellowship guiding teachers, Koshin Paley Ellison and Chodo Robert Campbell, will discuss how contemplative practice is a critical support for clinicians who wish to foster and sustain deeper connections with patients, team members, loved ones, and themselves in this time of pandemic.

While this year’s inaugural Fellowship is currently only open to physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, this webinar will be engaging and appropriate for other healthcare professionals wishing to explore a contemplative approach to care—all are welcome.

Healthcare professionals, caregivers, and those interested in becoming caregivers may also be interested in our nine-month Foundations in Contemplative Care training. Since 2007, this graduate-level training has transformed the lives of individuals from across the country and around the world by supporting the integration of spiritual practice and care.
