Mizuko Kuyo Ceremony for the Loss of a Child

with Sensei Robert Chodo Campbell and Eishin Alex Beth Schapiro

Sunday, June 27th, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm ET

Jizo Bodhisattva is the protector of the unborn, miscarried, and aborted children, as well as children who have died in the first years of life. The Mizuko Kuyo ceremony from the Zen Buddhist tradition honors and remembers them.

This year the ceremony will be held online. Before the ceremony we will spend time together making memorial origami cranes on which we will write a message or name of the child. (No experience of origami necessary). Attendees are also invited to bring a picture of their loved one or other personal tokens of remembrance to share.

All are welcome. No one is turned away for lack of funds. If you require financial assistance, please contact Eishin Alex Beth Schapiro at eishin@zencare.org.
