Mindfulness is the purposeful act of paying attention to the present moment. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a specific curriculum that teaches mindfulness and how to incorporate it into our daily lives so we can cope effectively with stress in a more open and easeful way. Over 32 years of research indicates that MBSR practitioners experience lasting decreases in physical and psychological problems, and are able to live life with more vitality and enjoyment.

MBSR has helped thousands of people decrease the effects of short and long term stress in their lives. In this course, individuals will learn:

• Practical coping skills to improve your ability to handle stressful situations

• Gentle full body conditioning exercises to strengthen the body and release muscular tension

• To become increasingly aware of the interplay of mind and body in health and illness

• Methods for being physically and mentally relaxed and at ease

The course is highly participatory and requires a commitment to attendance and daily practice.
