Waking Up Together: Cultivating the Beloved Community in a Racialized World

Beloved community was a phrase and idea often used by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who went as far as to say that the ultimate aim of the work of the civil rights movement was to foster and create the beloved community in America.

How do we do that in a racialized world that often separates and alienates us from one another? Race is both a construct of pseudoscience and a lived social reality that leads to great inequities and injustices.

Explore how dharma practice can help us bring awareness and clarity to the constructs & biases around race that exist in society and within each of us (either as external racism or as internalized oppression) so that we can live with more love, wisdom and compassion and foster the beloved community wherever we go.
