Writing as a Tool for Healing
with Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros
Processing grief and loss is a challenging and often confusing process. How do we experience ourselves and others as we find our way through the unknown? How might we explore our inner landscape to discover spaciousness and compassion as we care for ourselves and for others?
Writing with no particular goal, responding to simple prompts that catalyze creative inquiry, we will listen, read and write our way toward healing.
Award-winning Playwright, Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros’ latest play, Big Sky, had its world premiere at The Geffen Playhouse this past summer. Her work in the theater is extensive and she was a co-finalist for a Pulitzer Prize for drama in 2004 for her work on the play OMNIUM GATHERUM.
For the past 5 years, she has lead writing workshops with the women at The Bowery Mission, Veterans at the Brooklyn VA and with Public School children.
