Zen For The Flesh And Bones | Chimyo Atkinson

“Emptiness is not nothingness”—Thich Naht Hanh

As part of the guest Dharma talk series in November, Sensei Chimyo Atkinson joins the NYZC sangha to discuss how recent changes in her life have made her more acutely aware of the the teachings on emptiness. Citing teachers from Thich Naht Hanh to George Carlin, she asks us to examine ourselves more thoroughly, and appreciate the “slipperiness” of what we call “I”.

ZenTalk Notes:

Chimyo Atkinson was ordained in 2007 and received Dharma transmission under Rev. Teijo Munnich in 2015. She completed her monastic training in Japan and the US. Until recently, she served as Head of Practice at Great Tree Zen Women’s Temple in Alexander, North Carolina.
